Teacher In Charge, He Haurahi Tamariki (TPU), 5-6 MU

Permanent, Full time role

Start date:  Term 2, 2018

We require a well-qualified, experienced and dynamic teacher to lead He Huarahi Tamariki (Teen Parent Unit) and teach senior curriculum

The successful applicant will have experience in curriculum leadership, commitment to collaborative innovative practices, ability to lead teams, articulate a vision for the School and demonstrate knowledge of the needs of teen parents.  

He Haurahi Tamariki is the Teen Parent Unit located in Tawa with Wellington East Girls College as the host school.  The schools maximum roll is 50.  Further information can be found on the HHT website www.hht.school.nz

Counsellor (Fixed Term), Term 2 and 3

Start date:  30 April 2018

End Date: 29 September 2018

Wellington East Girls’ College requires an experienced full time Counsellor, 5 days per week (40 hours per week), school terms only for term 2 & 3 (30 April to 6 July & 23 July to 28 September.)

The primary objectives of the Counsellor’s role are:

  • To work within a multidisciplinary team focussed on student wellbeing outcomes
  • To provide a confidential counselling and guidance service to students, parents and staff
  • To promote student and wellbeing, through targeted interventions and support specific to identified student need
  • To develop and deliver plans and programmes to promote and build well-being and resilience across the student body
  • To support teachers promote wellbeing and achievement for identified priority learners.

Ideally we are looking for someone who has:

  • Relevant Qualification ( BCouns, BSW, Post Grad Dip Couns or relevant qualification)
  • Experience working with young people and their families
  • Membership to NZAC or appropriate/relevant professional body
  • Collaborative team member
  • Passionate about wellbeing and education
  • Is able to respond to complex situations and manage risk in ethical and safe manner
  • Understanding and embracing of diversity
  • Comfortable engaging in group work
  • Knowledge of Restorative and Relational Practice an advantage

Remuneration is based on a per full time equivalent annum salary of $42,637 - $51,017, the hourly rate is $20.50 - $24.53 per hour plus any relevant qualifications allowance.

Relief Teachers

Wellington East Girls' College has an opportunity for registered teachers to be available for Relief teaching as and when required.  We are looking for teachers to teach any secondary subject, in particular experience in PE, Science, Maths, Languages - French, Chinese and Te Reo Māori, and those who are available all days of the week would be useful.
