Wellington East Girls' College takes pride in being a multicultural school. The Polynesian group was established in 1979 and is one of the strongest standing groups at WEGC. We are fortunate to have a number of different Pacific cultures in the school, representing and reflecting the rich and cultural diversity of the Wellington East Community.
Polynesian group at WEGC is student lead. They meet at lunchtimes and after school, all are welcome. Young women involved demonstrate pride in their cultural heritage through assembly performances, TuTagata Secondary Poly Festival, Cultural events in and outside of school and School prize giving.
The strong support from the school and family community allows young women at WEGC to thrive in their culture, it also offers them a platform to showcase their identity and family community. We build strong and independent learners through connection, getting involved and supporting their integrity.
E waka eke noa – We are all in this together
