We wanted to remind everyone of some important dates to note for the rest of 2024. You are always able to check these dates on our public calendar which is published on the home page of the school website -https://www.wegc.school.nz/.

* Junior course selection evening

Date: Tuesday, 20 August
The evening runs from 6pm-8pm. Our Learning Areas will have displays set up and staff available to answer your questions. Current year 9 students and whānau have been invited to attend a presentation in the Hall about choosing courses for Year 10, beginning at 7pm.

* Staff Only Day
Date: Friday, 23 August 2024

* Derived Grade Week

Dates: 26-30 August (Week 6)

- Year 9 and Year 10 will continue with their normal timetable. Many will have their classes moved to different classrooms for the week to make space for the exams. All changes will be communicated to them directly and published on the daily notices each morning.

- All of Year 11 have study leave for Friday 30 August only. This is the day they sit their English exam. Those students in Integrated Studies will be working from home for the day and their teachers will set them work to do.

- Year 12 and Year 13 have study leave for the week to enable us to run the exams and give students time to prepare. This is important both to give students an opportunity to practise formal exams and for students to earn “derived grades” which can be used if they miss an end of year exam for certain reasons. The exam timetable has been shared with students and individual subjects may run workshops during the week as well.
