Tēnā koutou katoa,
There will be a Teacher Only Day on Friday 5 May. This is the first of two days that the Ministry of Education have provided this year for schools to begin looking at Te Mātaiaho, the refreshed New Zealand Curriculum. Te Aka will be open for students on this day
The PPTA has advised the Wellington East Girls’ College Board that its member teachers at our school will be taking strike action on Wednesday 10 May as part of a national rolling strike plan.
The Board has carefully considered the availability of non-union teaching staff, and unfortunately decided that we can’t provide normal instruction during the strike so the school will officially be closed for instruction on this day. Te Aka will also be closed.
We will be able to supervise a small number of students if required. Please contact wegc@wegc.school.nz if your student(s) will need this.
As part of the PPTA Industrial Action, students will also be rostered home beginning Thursday 4 May. The details are included in the table below
Te Aka students will not be impacted by the rostering home.
Thank you for your understanding. Please make contact Gael Ashworth (principal@wegc.school.nz) if you have any queries relating to this decision
Ngā mihi nui
